Abbott introduces an exclusive blend of 5 types of HMOs, scientifically developed to support immune protection, easy digestion, and cognitive development in infants.

While breast milk remains the gold standard in infant nutrition and nothing can fully replace its benefits, infant formulas are a nutritionally complete and suitable alternative for babies. Following its initial introduction of HMO-infused infant formulas in Israel in 2018, Abbott is now launching Similac Gold Plus, a series comprising three stages of infant formulas, each containing five types of HMOs. This launch follows their successful introduction in the United States and globally.

HMOs are special prebiotic fibers naturally present in breast milk and are the third most common nutritional component in breast milk after lactose and fat. Scientifically proven among breastfed infants, HMOs positively influence the proliferation of beneficial bacteria. They support immune protection by serving as food for friendly bacteria in infants' intestines, where 70% of the immune system is located.

Abbott scientists have been researching the components of HMOs in breast milk for over two decades. Breast milk contains more than 150 different types of HMOs. Incorporating HMOs into infant formulas was a breakthrough step in supporting infant development.

In addition to a blend of five different HMOs, the new Similac Gold Plus contains Omega-3 and Omega-6, which support cognitive development, and nucleotides, essential for physiological functions and playing a crucial role in infants' immune protection.

The new formula is available in Super-Pharm stores in three stages, in 700-gram cans, with a recommended price of NIS 79.90.
